San Jose Police Department Press Release 12/7/12
San Jose Police Department Homicide Detectives have arrested 23 year old Rebecca Michelle Villanueva, a San Jose Resident, in the November 30th murder of Daniel Capetillo. Detectives believe the homicide was gang motivated. Detectives also believe that Suspect Villanueva did not act alone and that additional unknown suspects involved in this case remain at-large. Persons with information regarding this case or any additional suspects are encouraged to contact the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
No further information is being released regarding this case due to the fact that the investigation is on-going. The San Jose Police Department is currently investigating its 43rd homicide of 2012. On Friday, 11/30/2012, at approximately 11:33 P.M., the San Jose Police Departments 9-1-1 Communications Center received a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue. Upon arrival, responding officers located a 17 year old male victim suffering from at least one gun shot wound.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim, later identified as 17 year old Daniel Capetillo, was shot by unknown suspect(s). The suspect(s) fled the scene and remain at-large and unidentified. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11 P.M. The San Jose Police Departments Homicide Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Detectives are exploring the possibility that the homicide was gang related. No further details are being released at this time.
