Petaluma police are seeking a man who struck a pedestrian with his vehicle and then drove away from the scene on Thursday night. The hit-and-run was reported at 8:07 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Petaluma Boulevard North and B Street. The pedestrian, a 55-year-old woman, was walking in the marked crosswalk when a white BMW or similar SUV was turning left from eastbound B Street and struck her, police said.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries in the collision. A male driver and female passenger in their 60s spoke briefly to the pedestrian, then drove away from the scene, according to police. The suspect vehicle had a possible license plate with 5’s or S’s in it, police said.
