A woman died from a gunshot wound in Bay Point late Tuesday night, a Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said today. Deputy sheriffs were called around 11:50 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of Clifford Court in Bay Point, where they located a woman in a driveway suffering from a gunshot wound, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

The woman, who was 25 years old, was later pronounced dead. Detectives are attempting to determine how she was shot, Lee said. “It’s still early in the investigation and we still have a lot of questions,” he said. Lee declined to comment on possible suspect information in connection with the shooting. An autopsy on the victim’s body will be performed on Thursday.
