Antioch police arrested a third suspect Monday in connection with a homicide on Nov 14. Following a short vehicle and foot pursuit, police arrested a third suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Antioch resident, Juan Hernandez. At about 1:20 p.m. on Monday detectives conducting surveillance on the suspect near the intersection of Bryan Avenue and A Street, located the suspect driving a Hyundai Santa Fe, which had been taken during an earlier carjacking in Antioch, police said.

A vehicle stop was attempted, but the driver and a 21-year-old passenger did not stop. Officers were led on a vehicle pursuit, southbound on A Street. As the suspect vehicle approached the intersection of Lone Tree Way and Putnam Street, the driver lost control and crashed into a vehicle traveling northbound on Lone Tree Way. No one was injured in the collision, police said.

The two suspects exited the carjacked vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood, police said. Both suspects were located and arrested following a short search and foot pursuit, according to Antioch police. This marks the third arrest police have made in connection with the fatal shooting of Hernandez at a friend’s home located at the Delta Pines apartment complex at 2301 Sycamore Drive shortly after 9 p.m. on Nov. 14. The homicide remains under investigation, police said.
