Berkeley police are asking for the public’s help in catching a man who is suspected of breaking into stores and stealing cigarettes. Police said detectives are investigating a series of commercial burglaries that have occurred in the past month and the suspect is believed to be responsible for two burglaries and an attempted burglary in Berkeley as well as additional burglaries in neighboring cities.
Police said the suspect’s method of operation is to enter a business by smashing a window and once he’s inside he takes cigarettes and leaves in a very short amount of time. Police described the suspect as a black man who is 25 to 35 years old, with pierced ears and wearing an olive green baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
