Police are investigating a shooting in Oakland on Tuesday night that left the victim hospitalized. The shooting was reported at about 10:40 p.m. in the 900 block of 54th Avenue, near San Leandro Street, police said. The victim, who was shot twice, was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition, according to police.

Earlier in the day, in an unrelated incident about a mile away, shots were fired during a burglary attempt, police said. That crime was reported at 3:08 a.m. in the 2100 block of Vicksburg Avenue. Police said the victim confronted the burglary suspect, and the suspect shot at the victim then fled on foot. The victim was not hit by the gunfire.
