A 21-year-old man who died after he was found in a trash bin in Union City Sunday was found in front of a family friend’s home, Union City police said. A woman exited her home in the 33900 block of 10th Street at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday to take out the trash, and when she noticed an unfamiliar trash bin, opened it, and found Joshua Gonzalez-Perez inside, Cmdr. Ben Horton said.
Perez was transported to a hospital, where he died. It is unclear at this time but Horton said Gonzalez-Perez may have been transported in the bin and left at the family friend’s home. There were no obvious signs of trauma and an autopsy is scheduled for early this week, Horton said. People have already begun to contact police with information about the events leading up to Gonzalez-Perez’s death, he said. It is being investigated as a suspicious death.
