Police arrested a 22-year-old San Francisco man Tuesday in connection with the vandalism of a Muni bus in San Francisco early Monday morning following the Giants’ World Series victory. Shortly after midnight on Monday the suspect smashed the windshield of a Muni bus at the intersection of Third and Market streets, police said. The suspect was photographed while committing the act of vandalism, police said.
With the assistance of the public and media, the suspect in the photograph was identified as Gregory Tyler Graniss, according to police. Police took Graniss into custody at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in San Francisco, police said. He was booked into county jail on charges of felony vandalism and destroying a passenger transit vehicle, also a felony, according to police.
San Francisco police are continuing to investigate the vandalism and search for suspects who later set the bus on fire. “This was a senseless act of destruction and there is no tolerance for such criminal behavior in San Francisco,” San Francisco police Chief Greg Suhr said.
