A man killed in a suspected gang-related shooting early Sunday morning has been identified as Giancarlo Villalobos, 25, of San Jose, police said today. Police received a call of a man shot at about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday to the area of Locust and Humboldt streets and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. The man, Villalobos, was taken to Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead of his injuries at 5:25 a.m., police said.
The victim had been walking in the vicinity of Locust and Humboldt when he was approached by one or more suspects and was shot, police said. An investigation determined that the shooting was gang-motivated, police said. The killing was the 39th homicide in San Jose so far this year, police said.
