Police arrested at least two Occupy Oakland protesters at Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland late Thursday night, according to police. At approximately 8:35 p.m., near the intersection of Eighth Street and Broadway, a protester threw a rock that struck a nearby police officer in the chest.
The protester rejoined the crowd and the officer was not injured, police said. At about 9:10 p.m., officers located a subject in connection with the incident and arrested 25-year-old Alexander Loutsis, of Stockton on probable cause for felony battery on a peace officer.
A second protester was arrested for obstructing an officer and for possession of a cocaine-based narcotic at about 11 p.m., police said. Police have not released the identity of the second protester arrested Thursday night.
