* Oakland Man Fatally Shot Tuesday Afternoon Identified As Thomas Cochrane

A man who was shot to death in East Oakland early Tuesday afternoon was identified by police today as 20-year-old Thomas Cochrane, of San Leandro. Oakland police said Cochrane was shot shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 10700 block of Myers Street, near the Foothill Square Shopping Center. Cochrane was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died. The murder occurred only a block away from the scene of another fatal shooting Thursday night. The Thursday shooting, reported at 9:10 p.m. in the 10700 block of Voltaire Avenue, killed 47-year-old Ledell Moss, of Oakland. Police aren’t releasing any information about a suspect or possible motive in either case.
