* Richmond Shooting Leaves Victim In Stable Shooting

A robbery turned into a struggle over a firearm, leaving one person shot near a North Richmond elementary school on Sunday, police said. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 3:15 p.m. of a shooting in a baseball field near Verde Elementary School, Richmond police Detective Nicole Abetkov said. The victim was found with a gunshot to the leg and was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center, Abetkov said. The victim was listed in stable condition as of Sunday evening.

The victim was found near the North Richmond-Richmond border and within the Richmond city limits, giving jurisdiction to Richmond police. Information given by the victim and a witness indicates three or four people were part of the robbery, according to police.
