A man who was fatally shot in San Francisco’s Mission District early Saturday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 19-year-old Jose Escobar. Escobar, a San Francisco resident, was shot in the upper torso as he walked on Caledonia Street near 16th Street around 2:45 a.m. Saturday. He ran to 16th and Valencia streets where he collapsed. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and was pronounced dead, police said. The shooter fled and had not been found as of this morning.
