Two suspects were arrested on suspicion of carjacking two cars and crashing them both in Contra Costa County Tuesday night, according to police. A male and female assaulted two people at a restaurant parking lot in Antioch before stealing the victim’s vehicle at about 8:40 p.m., according to Antioch police.

The victims suffered injuries not considered life threatening, police said. About an hour later, police were notified that a vehicle matching the description of the one stolen earlier was involved in a solo collision on Contra Loma Boulevard. The driver had fled the scene in another vehicle, according to police. Pittsburg police located the driver in the second vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued.

The driver lost control and crashed into a street sign and vegetation near the intersection of E. Leland and Loveridge roads in Pittsburg, police said. Antioch police arrested Isidro Gali, 41, of Antioch, who was a passenger in the pursuit vehicle, police said. Police said Gali has an extensive criminal record including past convictions for auto theft, burglary, willful discharge of a firearm, and driving under the influence. Gali was booked into the Martinez detention facility on suspicion of carjacking and possession of stolen property, police said. Pittsburg police arrested the female suspect.
