Police today released the names of two men arrested in connection with a stabbing outside a San Francisco 49ers game at Candlestick Park on Sunday, police said today. Kristopher Viana, 22, and Alexandro Arguelles, 30, both of San Francisco, are believed to have been involved in the attack, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Harney Way, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.

The pair allegedly got into an argument with the victim, a 27-year-old man who was wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey, Andraychak said. The argument turned physical and was broken up by bystanders, he said. Police believe that Viana and Arguelles returned moments later, and Viana tried to stab the victim’s girlfriend and another man before stabbing the victim with a knife. Arguelles allegedly punched at least one person before the pair fled, police said. They were arrested a short time later on Blanken Avenue, Andraychak said.

Each was booked into jail on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy in connection with the attack, while Viana also was booked on a weapons charge related to the knife. The victim’s injuries from the stabbing were initially reported as life-threatening, but police later said he is expected to survive. Andraychak said the victim and suspects were all in the area for the 49ers game against the New York Giants. The 49ers lost 26-3 to fall to 4-2 on the season.
