Police have identified a man who was fatally shot in San Jose early Friday morning as Joe Patrick Miranda, of Vallejo. At 1:46 a.m., police received reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of Rogers Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found 29-year-old Miranda suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m., police said.
The shooting happened in a neighborhood just east of San Jose International Airport near where Interstate Highway 880 and U.S. Highway 101 meet. The shooter fled the scene and no arrests have been made in the case. Police said they are still trying to determine the motive for the shooting. Miranda’s death marks San Jose’s 37th homicide of 2012, according to police.
