* Petaluma High School 14-year-old high school freshman girl was approached by a man in a car

A 14-year-old high school freshman girl was approached by a man in a car near her high school in Petaluma Thursday afternoon, Petaluma police said. The driver in a blue four-door sedan similar to an older model Buick come upon the girl on Douglas Street while she was walking away from Petaluma High School around noon, police said.

Petaluma High is located at 201 Fair St. The driver, who appeared to be about 18 or 20 years old stopped in the roadway and asked the girl, “Hey baby do you want a ride?” according to police. The girl walked to the school administration building on Douglas Street and reported the situation.

As she walked away the man yelled something else that she could not make out. The only description of the man was that he had short, black hair, according to police.
