Fire investigators are still searching for the person they suspect of setting yet another trash bin fire Thursday night in a West San Jose residential alley. According to fire Capt. Mary Gutierrez, the fire is the tenth to be set in the Delna Manor Lane alley in just over two weeks. While many of the fires have been set in trash bins, some have also burned bushes, trees and other things in the alley.
Most of the fires have been reported by residents of the multi-resident buildings that line Delna Manor Lane, Gutierrez said. “The majority of the calls have come in after dark, usually around 8,” Gutierrez said, though on Oct. 7, three separate fires were set between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. So far, Gutierrez said, none of the fires have spread to the buildings, but fire investigators are still concerned because they easily could — endangering property and lives, Gutierrez said. No suspects have been identified yet, she said.
