A Morgan Hill teen was responsible for planting a suspicious package on a Santa Clara County bus Wednesday, sheriff’s officials said. A bomb squad responded to a report of a suspicious package on a Valley Transportation Authority bus near Monterey Highway and Capitol Expressway in San Jose.
Bus passengers were evacuated and nearby roads were blocked at around 5:45 p.m., sheriff’s deputies said. Investigators took X-rays of the package and determined that it was not an explosive. Sheriff’s officials said a 15-year-old boy has admitted to placing the package on the bus and writing “bomb” on the package. The boy was cited for reporting a false bomb and released.
