The car of a 54-year-old man missing since Tuesday morning was found abandoned at a highway parking area in San Mateo County late Wednesday night, according to San Mateo County sheriff’s officials. Christopher Ryan was reported missing by his sister, Katie Glapzel, who told sheriff’s deputies that her brother was last seen on Tuesday morning around 8:20 a.m., sheriff’s officials said. She said her family is concerned because Ryan has a medical condition that requires daily medication and he is normally in constant contact with family members, sheriff’s officials said. At 11:34 p.m. Wednesday night, deputies found Ryan’s black Acura sedan sitting empty at the Vista Three parking area near Interstate Highway 280 and state Highway 92 along the Crystal Springs Reservoir. In the car deputies found his medicine and his cellphone.
Ryan had not been found as of 3:15 p.m. this afternoon and a search for him is ongoing, sheriff’s officials said. Before the car was discovered, family members and law enforcement had tried calling his phone to no avail. Sheriff’s officials completed a trace of Ryan’s phone with AT&T, which determined the cellphone had been turned off, according to sheriff’s officials.
