* Oakland Police Investigate Heavy Shooting That Ended In Car Crash Engulfed In Flames

One person was killed Friday night in a shooting that resulted in a fiery car crash, Oakland police said today. Police were alerted to the shooting around 9:18 p.m. when multiple shots were reported on the 9600 block of Birch Street. Officers arriving on the scene found a vehicle that had crashed into a parked car and was engulfed in flames, police said. One man with gunshot wounds was inside the burning vehicle, and a second with a gunshot wound to the leg was fond nearby, police said. The man pulled from the vehicle died of his injuries, making the shooting a homicide. Dozens of rounds had been fired in the area, striking not only the victims but also nearby vehicles and homes in the area, police said. Investigators are asking the public for any information on the shooting.
