Two men have been identified as suspects in the killing of a 22-year-old man whose body was dumped in Rodeo last October, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. In the early hours of Oct. 28, 2011, the body of Sacramento resident Anthony Ramos was discovered near the intersection of San Pablo and Rodeo avenues in Rodeo. Ramos died from a gunshot wound to the head, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said. An investigation led detectives to identify Sacramento men Jesse Evans, 27, and Isaiah Duckworth, 25, as the suspected killers.
Authorities arrested Evans in Sacramento on Sept. 25 while he was in court for an unrelated case and took him to county jail in Martinez, where he is being held on $5 million bail, Lee said. Duckworth remains in custody in Sacramento for an unrelated case. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against both suspects on Sept. 26. Evans is set to appear in court in Martinez on Wednesday to enter a plea. A court date has not yet been set for Duckworth.
