A man and a woman are being treated at a local hospital after being shot in East Oakland shortly after 2 p.m. today, police said. Oakland police Sgt. Chris Bolton said police were notified by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office at about 2:08 p.m. that a vehicle had arrived at a local hospital with both the driver and passenger suffering from gunshot wounds.
The incident was reported to have occurred near 69th Avenue and International Boulevard, Bolton said. However, at about 2:11 p.m. police received a call from a citizen who reported witnessing a vehicle shooting at another vehicle near the area of 69th Avenue and Weld Street, a location several blocks east of 69th and International, according to Bolton. He said police are following up on both scenes and their investigation will continue. Bolton said there are reports that the male victim was struck by gunfire multiple times but at this time his condition is unknown, as is the condition of the female victim. Bolton said anyone who has information about the shooting should call police.
