A 19-year-old man was arrested in Concord this morning after fleeing from police during a traffic stop, a police lieutenant said. Around 11:20 a.m., a motorcycle officer attempted to pull over a two-door Honda Civic at Juniper and Sharon drives for several vehicle code violations, Concord police Lt. Robin Heinemann said. Instead of yielding, the Honda’s driver stopped the car, got out and started running, Heinemann said.

Police set up a perimeter around the area to search for the suspect, who was known to police. Officers learned that the man was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for burglary, according to police. A short time later, an officer spotted the suspect in an area on Mulberry Drive near Concord High School, Heinemann said. Seeing that officers were deploying police K-9s to apprehend him, the suspect surrendered and was arrested. His name has not yet been released. Concord High School was advised of the incident but was not put on lockdown, police said.
