The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase in the number of gang members found carrying firearms and has seized eight guns in recent weeks, officials said Saturday. Handguns and shotguns have been seized from gang members in Santa Rosa, in Rohnert Park, in Windsor and in the Sonoma Valley in six different incidents since August 2nd, according to Sgt. Dave Pederson. Eight people were arrested during those incidents, primarily on warrants and parole and probation violations. “The seizure of the firearms should result in less violent crime among rival gangs and the threat gang violence poses to the general public,” Pedersen said in a statement.
