A Gilroy man was stabbed in a fight involving several people in Santa Cruz Friday night, according to police. The fight was reported around 6:30 p.m. on Friday on Beach Street at Pacific Avenue, according to Santa Cruz police. Police arriving on the scene found a 19-year-old Gilroy man suffering major injuries due to a stabbing. He was flown to an out-of-county trauma center.
Investigators determined there may have been six suspects involved in the fight, which appears to have been gang related. During a search of the area police contacted two males ages 17 and 19, but are still working to determine if they were involved in the incident. The alleged stabber is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a shaved head, mustache, medium-heavy build, wearing dark plaid shorts and a black t-shirt.
