An Oakland man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a Pleasanton bank robbery from earlier this month, Pleasanton police said. Wednesday morning an officer saw a brown 1970s Ford Ranchero with a white camper shell matching the description of a suspect vehicle used to rob the Bank of America at 6005 Stoneridge Drive on Sept. 11, Pleasanton police said.

The officer spoke to the driver of the Ford Ranchero, Royland Rice, 59, who matched the description of the bank robber who had entered the bank around 1:35 p.m. that day and given the teller a threatening note, according to police. The suspect had fled the car after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

After stopping Rice on Wednesday morning, police said officers discovered evidence connecting Rice with the robbery. Rice was arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. Police said Rice was on federal parole for robbery.
