An injured man found unconscious on state Highway 128 in Napa County on Monday has been identified as Dustin Wayne Valentine, 42, of Vacaville, Napa County sheriff’s Capt. Tracey Stuart said. Valentine was found just after midnight with major head injuries. He remains in critical condition at the John Muir Medical Center, Stuart said.

Valentine was found in the westbound lane in the 7500 block of Highway 128 near Markley Cove Resort. He was wearing two t-shirts and boxer shorts and had no identification with him, Stuart said. The California Highway Patrol initially said a vehicle might have struck Valentine, but the sheriff’s office later determined that a vehicle had not struck him.

Valentine has had contact with law enforcement in both Napa and Solano counties, Stuart said. Valentine’s family has been in contact with the sheriff’s office but has no information on how he ended up on the roadway. “We don’t know how or where he was hurt or by who,” Stuart said.
