A man was found shot to death inside a Salinas home on Las Casitas Drive on Saturday, according to police. The shooting was first reported around 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, when neighbors on the 700 block of Las Casitas Drive reported hearing shots. However, police at the time could not locate any sign of a shooting, and there were conflicting reports as to whether the sounds were gunshots or fireworks or a car backfiring.
Around two hours later, police received an anonymous tip about a possible deceased person inside a home on the block and returned to the area. Officers looking through windows saw a man slumped over on the floor of a home and forced entry. They confirmed the had been shot multiple times and killed in the home. The victim’s identity was withheld today pending notification of his family. Police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting, but do not believe it is gang related.
