A Walnut Creek man has been arrested this evening following a crash that killed one adult woman and severely injured another, according to police. The two women were standing on the sidewalk on North Main Street at Parkside Drive when they were struck by a vehicle that had driven up on to the sidewalk before it collided with a retaining wall, according to Lt. Lanny Edwards. One woman died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with severe injuries. Both were adult females, Edwards said.
The driver of the vehicle, Hossein Tabrizi, 53, had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel and was taken to a
hospital. He remains at the hospital but has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, Edwards said. The crash closed Main Street for several hours.
