A San Francisco police officer and a ranger in Golden Gate Park were attacked by a homeless man with a branch this morning, a police spokesman said. At about 10 a.m., a park ranger approached a homeless man near Stern Meadow, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said. During the interaction, the suspect became resistant and struck the ranger with a tree limb or branch, Esparza said. A police officer responded, and the homeless man also hit the officer, Esparza said. Both the ranger and the officer were injured, Esparza said. The suspect was arrested.
