Stacy Fixico, a 20-year-old San Lorenzo man, was charged with murder today for allegedly fatally shooting his friend in unincorporated Hayward on Monday. According to Alameda County sheriff’s officials, 20-year-old Tony Jones was found dead of gunshot wounds at about 9:30 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Bartlett Avenue. Detectives said an investigation led them to Fixico. They said Fixico and another man, Domonic Sanchez, had been nearby shooting a .22 caliber gun in the air on the grounds of Royal Sunset High School.

After that, Fixico and Sanchez met with Jones and the three of them were smoking marijuana together on a balcony on Bartlett Avenue. It was there that sheriff’s officials believe that Fixico shot Jones. Sheriff’s deputies then recalled a recent burglary at a residence in San Lorenzo near where Fixico lived. During that burglary, a .22 caliber handgun and a vintage World War II U.S. Navy knife were stolen. Detectives discovered the 93-year-old World War II veteran’s possessions from the burglary during a search of Fixico’s home, sheriff’s officials said.

Fixico, who was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court in Hayward today, was also charged with first-degree burglary. Sanchez was charged with being an accessory after the fact for allegedly trying to help Fixico avoid being arrested.
