A special needs teenager missing from her Fremont home since Thursday afternoon was last seen that night trying to catch a ride to Modesto, police said today. Kristina Krag, 15, was seen by high school classmates around 8 p.m. Thursday outside Bronco Billy’s Pizza Parlor at 37651 Niles Boulevard, according to Julie Terry, a missing persons investigator. A classmate contacted police regarding the sighting this morning, after news of Kristina’s disappearance was reported. She told police that Kristina was asking for a ride to Modesto.
According to her father, Chris Krag, Kristina has the mental capacity of a 7- or 8-year-old and is not on medication but sees a psychologist weekly. Krag said he is worried that Kristina is trying to track down her mother, a transient who was last known to be living on the street in Modesto. The sighting at Bronco Billy’s has confirmed this fear, but Terry said no further sightings have been reported and police do not know if Kristina actually caught a ride with anyone.
Terry said police have contacted Modesto police and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, as well as other police agencies on the route between Fremont and Modesto. According to Krag, Kristina has “taken off before, but she always comes back. To be gone the whole night is more than unusual.” She is described as a white female standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. She has brown hair that was in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a pink T-shirt, jeans and black tennis shoes, police said.
