A man was shot and killed in East Oakland this afternoon, Oakland police said. Police responded to the shooting in the 2300 block of East 22nd Street at 1:58 p.m. The man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was unconscious when police arrived, and was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting this afternoon, and have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive. The shooting is Oakland’s second homicide today.
Police identified the victim of a fatal shooting early this morning as 24-year-old MiAndrew Rachel, of Emeryville. Officers responding to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of West MacArthur Boulevard at about 2:40 a.m. found Rachel suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they don’t yet have suspect information or a motive for the shooting, which closed sections of Interstate Highway 580 during the investigation.
