Shots were fired at a man in a wheelchair today in the Vallejo City Hall parking lot after an argument, according to police. The shooting was reported around 4:20 p.m., according to Sgt. John Whitney. Officers found the victim, a 23-year-old man, lying on the ground. He had not been shot, but had fallen out of the chair while trying to avoid the bullets, Whitney said.
Witnesses and the victim told police that the suspect, described only as a black male, pulled up to the victim in a white or silver Chevy Suburban with 22 inch chrome rims. The suspect became involved in a verbal argument with the victim and then pulled out a handgun, firing approximately four shots. The victim’s vehicle was struck on the right side and windshield. The victim told police he did not know the suspect, Whitney said. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving south on Mare Island Boulevard.
