San Jose police are searching for a bad-smelling man in connection with a sexual assault that took place on South Bascom Street last week. The victim, described only as an adult female, was walking on South Bascom around 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26th when she was attacked, according to Officer Jose Garcia. The suspect was described as a dark complexioned male between 35 and 45 years old, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, with broad shoulders, stubble and black salt-and-pepper short hair cut into a flat top. The suspect may be a transient, “due to his unkempt appearance and body odor,” Garcia said. The suspect remains at large. Police have released a sketch.
