Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Thursday suspected of killing his neighbor’s wife during a fight in Alamo on Monday, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived at the 3000 block of Stonegate Drive in Alamo at about 11 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a fight between Michael Littman, 59, and his 55-year-old neighbor.

During the fight, the neighbor’s wife, identified as Doris Penico, 59, was knocked to the ground and hit her head on the cement driveway. She was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she died. Sheriff’s investigators concluded the two neighbors had been involved in an on-going dispute over property, and that Littman had struck Penico during the fight.

Detectives returned with a warrant for Littman’s arrest at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. He was arrested without incident. Littman was booked into jail in Martinez with bail set at $1 million. An autopsy on Penico is scheduled for today.
