Petaluma police on Saturday arrested a felon suspected of making death threats at another man after their dogs got into a fight. Police received a call from a man who said that earlier in the week, a man had retrieved a gun from his car, loaded it and made threats after their dogs got into a scuffle in the parking lot at the Sheraton Sonoma on 745 Baywood Drive, according to Petaluma police. The victim called police after seeing the same suspect on Saturday and feared another confrontation, police said. Officers responded to the scene prompting the suspect — later identified as Christopher Dwyer, 34, of Petaluma – to drive away, police said.

Dwyer, who was out on bail from a domestic violence case, was detained a short distance away. Officers searched his vehicle and found a loaded gun, police said. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a loaded firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and making death threats. He was booked at Sonoma County jail where he remains in lieu of $50,000 bail.
