A San Leandro man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to stab a neighbor who complained about his dogs defecating in her yard, police said today. Dewey Cuffle, 39, got into a verbal argument with his neighbor on the 1400 block of Hubbard Avenue around midnight this morning about his two dogs, who often defecate in her yard, according to Lt. Jeff Tudor. During the argument Cuffle allegedly brandished a knife and swung it at his neighbor as he lunged at her, then fled in a black Dodge truck. A police officer spotted his vehicle a short time later and stopped it on the 15100 block of Washington Avenue. Cuffle was detained without incident and a knife was found on his person, Tudor said. The victim and a witness positively identified Cuffle, and the knife is believed to be the same one used in the attack.
