An Oakland man was charged today in connection with a homicide that occurred on Monday, according to police. Daron Woods, 23, was arrested Wednesday around 6 p.m. on suspicion of murder and possession of a controlled substance, according to the Alameda County District Attorney’s office. Woods was arrested in the 1800 block of Brush Street after a search of the area in connection with the West Oakland shooting death Monday of Lamon White, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.
White was shot and killed around 3:15 a.m. as he sat in a car on the 700 block of Market Street with a woman. The woman was not injured. Woods was charged with homicide and also with shooting at the female victim, Watson said. He is being held in Glenn Dyer Jail without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m. today, according to prosecutors.
