A man was fatally shot at a jewelry store in Hayward on Thursday afternoon, police said today. The 53-year-old victim was found when officers responded at 3:50 p.m. to a 911 call at Espinosa Jewelry and Boutique, a store located at 655 W. Tennyson Road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his name is not yet being released. However, police spokesman Sgt. Eric Melendez said that the man was an employee at the store.

A motive for the shooting had not been determined as of this morning, Melendez said. “We’re exploring all avenues on this one,” he said. Investigators are seeking possible witnesses to the shooting and any other evidence that may lead to the identity of the suspect or suspects.
