* Bomb Squad Evacuates Building on Jones Street in San Francisco

Suspicious items were reported inside an apartment building in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood and the Police Department’s bomb squad has evacuated an apartment building to further investigate the items early this morning, according to police. Officers were called to an apartment building located in the 600 block of Jones Street on report of suspicious items.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, officers determined the items were possibly hazardous and called the bomb squad. The bomb squad responded and is assessing the situation, police said. The building has been evacuated as a precaution and approximately 75 residents of the building have been affected, police said. The following street closures are in effect this morning: Jones Street from Post to Geary streets and Geary Street from Taylor to Jones streets, according to police.
