Police said the man shot to death in the Hamann Park neighborhood of San Jose early Sunday morning was a 52-year-old San Jose resident, who’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. Police found the victim seated inside a parked vehicle after they responded to a report of a shooting around 5:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Van Sansul Avenue, according to police Officer Jose Garcia. Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said one or more suspects fled the scene before their arrival and remain at large. The fatal shooting marks San Jose’s 28th homicide this year, police said. The name of the victim’s identity is being withheld until his family members have been notified. The circumstances and motive for the shooting are under investigation.
