A 20-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed in an apparent gang-related attack in Watsonville Saturday night, police said. According to police, the victim was walking on California Street a short time before 9 p.m. Saturday when a group of five males drove up beside the victim in a small black car. Four suspects exited the car, confronted the victim and began shouting gang slogans at him, police said.
The victim tried to flee the group, but the suspects chased the man, caught him and stabbed him multiple times. The suspects fled the area in their car, which was last seen heading south on Brewington Avenue, police said. Officers found the victim in front of a home in the 400 block of California Street suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper body. He was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center to be treated for life-threatening injuries, police said. Police combed the area near the scene of the stabbing but were unable to locate the suspects.
