The California Highway Patrol is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred on westbound Interstate Highway 580 in San Leandro late Friday night. An 18-year-old San Leandro man was injured in the shooting, which was reported around 11:30 p.m., according to the CHP. The victim and others were driving on westbound 580 just west of 150th Avenue when a light-colored sedan pull up on the right side and opened fire with a handgun.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Eden Hospital for treatment. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, but investigators believe it was not random. The CHP is handling the investigation at the request of San Leandro police.
