A convenience store clerk was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint late Thursday night, a Benicia police lieutenant said. Four men entered the Fast & Easy Mart at 1500 E. Fifth St. around 11 p.m., pointed a small handgun at a clerk and demanded money, Lt. Frank Hartig said. The clerk was punched in the back of the head but refused medical treatment, Hartig said.

The suspects took an undetermined amount of money, the clerk’s personal laptop computer, his wallet and alcoholic beverages, Hartig said. The suspects are black males between 20 and 30 years old. Two suspects were wearing gray hoodies, one wore a black hoodie and the fourth was in a dark navy blue jacket, Hartig said. All four wore dark-colored bandanas over their mouths to conceal their identity. After the robbery, the suspects fled in a silver, 4-door vehicle, Hartig said.
