* Two Men Rob Salinas Market At Gunpoint

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two men who stole about $300 in an armed robbery at a market near Salinas on Wednesday. Deputies responded to reports of a robbery at La Vina Market at 1141 Fontes Lane, west of Salinas, at 6:47 p.m. Witnesses told investigators the two men had entered through the store’s front door.

One held the store’s lone employee at gunpoint with a chrome semi-automatic handgun, while the other took money from the cash register, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspects then fled with the money. No one was injured.

Both are described as Hispanic men about 5 feet 6 inches tall. The suspect with the gun is described as weighing about 150 pounds, and the one who took the cash weighs about 190 pounds.
