Sausalito police are looking for a man who fled after an attempted residential burglary on Butte Street Tuesday. The resident surprised the burglar on the back deck of his home around 11:40 a.m., Lt. Kurtis Skoog said. The suspect unsuccessfully tried to get inside another residence on Butte Street by prying open a ground level window, Skoog said.

Sausalito police, Mill Valley police and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office searched extensively for 90 minutes but did not find the suspect. He is described as a black male adult in his late 30s with a stocky build and long hair, possibly dreadlocks or corn rows.
