Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who allegedly groped a woman in the Safeway parking lot in Sonoma Tuesday. The 21-year-old woman took a picture of the man’s vehicle and license plate with her cell phone and gave the information to sheriff’s deputies, Sgt. Dave Thompson said.

Police found the car near Petaluma Avenue and Linden Street about four minutes after the 5:28 p.m. groping incident and arrested 36-year-old Samuel Lyons of El Verano, Thompson said. Lyons already was wanted on a warrant for sexual battery when he allegedly grabbed a woman’s breast at a medical facility on Andrieux Street in Sonoma in May, Thompson said.

He also was identified as a suspect in the sexual battery of a teen girl as she walked home from the Sonoma CVS store in Sonoma Monday, Thompson said. Detectives are investigating whether Lyons is involved in other sexual assaults and peeping and prowling incidents in the Sonoma area over the past several months, Thompson said.
