* San Jose 26th homicide on Meridian Avenue / San Carlos Street female stabbed

The San Jose Police Department is currently investigating the City’s 26th homicide of 2012. On Monday, August 13th, at approximately 6:31 P.M., the San Jose Police Department’s 9-1-1 call center received a report of a stabbing in the area of Meridian Avenue / San Carlos Street in San Jose.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim that had been stabbed. The San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case. The motive behind the homicide remains under investigation. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the coroner and notifications to the next of kin. Preliminary investigation into the case has revealed that the suspect attacked the victim with a sword-like weapon.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries. The suspect fled on foot. Shortly after the incident, detectives developed information regarding the suspect’s identity. Special Operations Canine Unit personnel responded to assist in the apprehension of the suspect. Canine officers located the suspect in the 2000 block of Beatrice Court and took him into custody without incident. The suspect was booked into jail for homicide.
